Fiona Foley: Veiled paradise

curated by Angelina Hurley

25 June – 9 October 2022
McClelland

VIRTUAL TOUR

This first major survey exhibition of Batjala artist Fiona Foley was curated by Angelina Hurley for QUT Art Museum with exhibition management at McClelland by Simon Lawrie.

Fiona Foley: Veiled Paradise presented key works from Foley’s nearly forty-year career, demonstrating her commitment to truth-telling and amplifying the voices and perspectives of Aboriginal people. Informed by her ancestral connection to K’gari/Fraser Island, Foley’s practice draws equally upon its serene beauty and the history of systemic violence and sexual exploitation perpetrated on its shores.

The exhibition toured from QUT Art Museum where it was first shown in 2021.
